A special message to all readers
Well a New Year is nearly upon us and it is the time of year we start to think of the year ahead and making some New Year’s resolutions. Now for those who are planning on building a highly successful on-line business it is a particularly important time. Planning is crucial. For those presently doing the mentorship course with Alex Jeffreys – remember way back on our first webinar, ‘Forward to Basics’? I hope so, because it is crucial to have those plans in place to ensure we have a firm foundation to build our business on. All the ‘small steps’ we take towards our goals, as written in our plan, take us in the right direction and have a cumulative impact when all added together.
Now notice the word “written” in the above paragraph? You see a plan in your head is just a dream, a thought, an intention. To make it become reality you have to do a bit more and one way of ensuring that is by making yourself accountable. Now I reveal at the end of this post my precise goals for the coming year. Why? Well because announcing them to the world makes them more ‘real’ than just a thought and more importantly it makes me accountable. I do not like to fail and having my goals up for the world to see is one way of instilling the drive and determination to make me succeed. You see I will succeed I told you here. Will you?
Before I go on to reveal my goals I’d like to add a little frivolity to this post but it has a serious point to it as well. Those following my thread yesterday would have seen some of the banter that was going on. It led me to put the following short video up (it auto started when you got to this site so it will easily have finished by the time you have read here!)
Now some out there will immediately discount it and say what has that got to do with running a successful online business? Well you see it is one of those ‘small steps’ I told you about in the opening paragraph. You see you have to get your ‘content’ and ‘message’ out in ‘interesting ways’. You’ve got to make sure people keeping coming back and visiting your blog. Some of your ideas won’t work but you won’t know without trying. It’s all part of the “Failing Forward” as Alex Jeffreys so fondly says. Well did my experiment work? Well, if I was to tell you that the video in less than 24 hours has been embedded in over 400 websites would that make you sit up? Both mine and Gary Simpson’s blogs were specifically mentioned in it. Now if you are one of those who says ‘I can’t see the point of it?’ well then you are ‘missing the point of it’. It’s not what YOU think when it comes to marketing or promoting something it is what others think. It is analogous to what Alex preaches GIVE first, RECEIVE later and that is the mindset you have to constantly be in. It’s not about ME, it’s about others FIRST.
Right that’s the end of my digression, but I hope you understand the message I am trying to convey here.
So back to my personal goals for 2009, well more precisely I am going to start out by putting up by 90-day goals. You see things have progressed so quickly since putting up this blog a little over a month ago that I’ve got absolutely no idea where things will be in a years time so I’ll stick with 90-days for now. So here they are:-
- Have 1,500 subscribers on my list (Have to clear easily more than 10 a day to hit this target)
- Create a video-cast (or podcast) once a week for my blog
- Publish the Profit Pulling Project Newsletter every 2 weeks
- Spend at least 1 hour a day posting and commenting on others blogs, etc
- Create my first ebook (the one Alex mentioned I should write on one of the webinars on exactly how I have managed to have such a dominate blog)
- Do my first Joint Venture with another Student(s)
- Implement my ‘secret’ strategy (can’t say anymore about that now !!)
Are you motivated and determined enough to put your goals on the net for all to see? If not then I suspect you have not got what it takes to succeed. And it is not just me saying that, all the top motivational coaches say something similar when it comes to having goals. I have mentioned before I have been on many courses with probably one on the best motivational coaches in the world - Tony Robbins. Goals become more tangible if they are in the ‘real’ world rather than just a thought. So what are your plans for 2009 or the next 90-days?. Have a think and post a comment up here to announce your intentions to the world. The more accountable the more likely you are to succeed as most individuals will make greater efforts to avoid failing in front of people but are quite happy to fail if no-one knows about it.

Hi Garry,
Love the video, nothing more than Gazza deserves, LOL!
Hope you enjoyed your break.
Am still breaking my yearly plan down into 3mth, 1mth and weekly plans.
Also writing goals out and will set time aside each day to read them and more importantly visualise the result.
My goals are similar to yours.
Get my list to 1500
Finish my ebook and start another
Get some JV’s going
Be active on blogs/forums outside our community
Not sure I have a secret strategy but if you have one I going to get one too! LOL
I have been busy working on studentswithalex.com with Mark Call. I emailed you the other day but I know you have been taking sometime out.
We are hoping to interview as many students as possible about Alex’s coaching, their progress, success and future plans.
If other students are reading this and want to be involved, please visit the link below for more details and to sign up.

Happy New Year Garry!
All the best

OK Gazza,
I guess since I have got a big message similar to this over at Gary-Land then I should at least come here and throw a few of my own goals up:
1 – to continue my need to motivate others to bigger and better things by having fresh content on my blog for people to read at least once per week, preferably twice,
2 – ASAP upgrade my pretty crappy looking blogsite from its VW-style appearance to something more befitting of what I am doing (plans already drawn up for this),
3 – to continue my already 6 year (2,190 consecutive days already) participation in an activity (won’t bore you with details here – they are on my blog),
4 – build a 5,000+ opt-in list over the next 12 months,
5 – continue to contribute my MOTIVATIONAL MOMENT to the PPP – if Parkesy will still have me after our little “war” of the last 24 hours (I still reckon I won!)
6 – complete several more e-books (already in progress).
7 – participate in some JV’s with some of you fabulous people.
I actually have more but that will do for here.
Thanks for the fun and games of the last 24 hours Garry and, gee, those video stats are VERY impressive. I think I need to add that to my list which is already MASSIVE.
Gary
PS: When we get to Las Vegas I may have a little surprise to share with you all.
Hi there Garry
I want to wish you and all the fellow students a Happy New Year filled with success and happiness.
I just recently got my blog up after many problems (and it still needs a lot of work). And, as a matter of fact, I’m actually embarrassed to leave a message because all the blogs I have seen are amazing and I don’t want anyone to see mine! So, regretfully, with apologies, I’ve concentrated too much on the technical process, neglected the social aspect of the training and haven’t been interacting with the rest of the Fortunate 500 clan as I should be. (I kinda feel like I’m on a deserted island!) I certainly hope to drop by more often and visit many more students blogs in the future (just one of my goals) and maybe I can get some tips from you and the others too!
So until then….
Cheers!
Ramona

Another great post Garry,
I cannot agree more with you about your point of being accountable and transparent with our online careers.
It seems to be the by word at the moment to lay yourself bare to your subscribers and anyone else who cares to read your content, and quite rightly so.
I think for too long marketers have hidden away, and have not been as responsive as they could have been to comment left on their sites, be they good or bad.
My feeling are that if you post anything on the net you need to have the courage of your conviction to enable you to stand up to criticism.
I for one applaud your ability to do just this, as it was plain to see for everyone who read our tennis match of a couple of days ago.
All the very best for the coming year Garry.
Paull
Hey Garry
Accountability is great and I like your goals. They are real goals that are hard but achievable.
With everything we do, I have forgot about setting myself a target for listbuilding – so thanks for the reminder:)
In our latest post, we state that we want to take our online earnings to 5 figures per month by the end of 2009. And the only way we are going to do this is by taking actions that are way out of our comfort zone.
And this is what I see you doing Garry. Learning new skills and moving forward by taking
taking actions that you would not normally take.
Keep it going mate – 2009 is going to be a great year for us all.
Ps – Sean Mize is sending my new report to his list tomorrow – I am hoping this will add some nice numbers to my list. You can grab a free copy on the blog.
Cheers mate.
JJ
>Mark – Yes I’ve been taking a bit of a breather over Christmas period. Hopefully back to full-speed in a couple of days time . I’ll catch up with you then Mark re. the email you sent.
>Gary – As long as you keep that BAD-Gary under control I’ll let you keep doing the Motivational Moment in the Profit Pulling Project newsletter. I need someone else to kick a few b*tts after all
I hope we get to Vegas to share your little surprise. I’ll most certainly have hit my goals if I get there.
>Ramona – Welcome. It’s a brave step to make your first post after so long, but you’re ahead of about another 250 ‘in-active’ students at the moment so well done. Each journey starts with the first step. And don’t be embarrassed about your blog. Post up another message with your blog URL on and I’ll personally go over there and leave a comment saying where I think you need to focus on. Give me a day or so though as its New Year’s Eve here in the UK and so may be a little busy with partying (and recovering!). All the best for 2009.
Oh, and you ‘peeps’ out there – the ones that haven’t started yet. Follow Ramona’s actions and get a move on. Now is the ideal time of year to recommit. If you are struggling with a techie bit – ask questions or outsource it. If you’ve not got your blog and PPP up yet, my offer of FREE installations still stands. So come on, probably the last time to commit is here, don’t let the opportunity we are part of with the Alex Jeffreys coaching program pass you by. YOU HAVE TO START SOMEWHERE, otherwise this time next year, well I’ll let you finish that sentence….
>Paull – Thanks Paull, glad you liked the post. I can only write from the heart, what I firmly believe and hopefully it will strike a chord with readers and inspire them to take action. It gives me great satisfaction when I read comments like yours. The great thing about all our students blogs has been the community spirit. I have not seen one bad or negative word said on any of the blogs. Even when views have differed the debate has been conducted in the most uplifting and constructive manner. I think I’ve just got time now before I get to partying mode to pop over and see your video.
I’ll catch up with everyone in 2009. All the best to everyone.
Oh, Before, I go I have a question my young 11 year old son asked me. I said I’d put it up on my Blog (he didn’t believe me but he will now!) as both my wife and I disagreed on the answer – no surprise there then, LOL) . So, here goes – nothing to do with business – but I’m sure you’ll help me out.
‘For turtles or tortoises is their shell they live in part of their body or are they separate from it? That is, can they crawl out of the holes if they were big enough? So with that I’ll say good night!
WOW!
Guess I gotta get on the ball………
Great video Garry.
You have been an inspiration to us all.
I look forward to working with you in 2009, my friend!
Have a GREAT NEW YEAR!
Your Friend,
Mark Call
http://www.MarkCall.com/blog
Thanks for sharing your goals and showing us how to reach them. And I hope the monstrous wanted man is locked in now.
I am here only for sharing a small tip from a friend that I have got today:
Write down your negative things such as stress, worries, money problems on a paper. Then burn that paper and those things will disappear. Good doing for the New Year. My friend promise that it will work. I’m not a real believer, but maybe 2009.
/Ali – Fire for success
Hi Garry
Well done for your part in this amazing journey that we are on.
I also want to address Ramona on this and as you said to her in your reply – don’t be worried by what you haven’t done.
I fully understand how it feels when you look at some of the other blogs, support, giveaways etc that other AJ students have done. Don’t get upset by it – just think how far you have come in such a short time. When I tell other people that I have a blog, am Tweeting on Twitter etc, many of them say to me “Oh I couldn’t do that!” yet we are – be proud of it!
We have all started from different places and as long as we are doing something and moving forward that is fine – it is our timetable not someone else’s. As long as we keep involved and do what we can, our own time will come.
Anyway there is so much going on with what is already out there that I almost feel that if there is too much more at the moment (the operative words!)none of us will be able to keep up and we will miss what help there is. Perhaps we should hold back on some things until we are ready – our time will come!
Anyway that said and done I hope that you don’t mind if I cut and paste what I said on the Gazz-man’s blog (it’s late and I don’t want to type it all again!). It won’t do me any harm to have this on more than one blog – it will make me even more accountable.
I’ve just watched the fireworks over London and my commitment for this year is to set off a few fireworks of my own. They’ll both be for me (beneath me to get and keep me working towards my goals) and for others to see, enjoy and hopefully to take part in.
My main areas will be:
1) To plan and follow my plan and to keep a record of what I have done or not.
2) To concentrate on the task in hand and to work at each one until finished – not flit around from one job to another – multi-tasking doesn’t always work, though as a mum I do have to do plenty of that.
3) Be positive as much of the time as possible (I won’t say always because I’m human too!):)
4) To enjoy my family and spend good quality time with them – follows on from 2.
5) To enjoy the journey – boy have I learnt a lot already! I’m having fun meeting so many great, helpful people. Who knows where we will all be and what we will have experienced by this tiime next year?
Life’s too short to be stressed and miserable and the news, politicians, financial situation etc could really drag us down but we have the opportunity here to do something about it in our lives. Let’s seize it with both hands, run with it and not let it go.
Be positive and laugh! It’s good for us!
Wishing you and all AJ students an exciting and proseperous 2009.
Hilary
Gazza Parkes,
Thanks for those wonderful things you said about moi on my blog over at Gary-Land. As YOU know a LOT of what I do is designed to provoke people. I want them to take ACTION. And if there is anything I say or do that will inspire the “Peeps” then I’m up for it. I like pushing buttons to get a response, sometimes even at my expense – like with that damn GOOD/BAD video that YOU did. Thanks Gazza, now I can look like a head-case on 400+ OTHER sites. Oh deary, deary me…
All the “third-person” Gazz-Man stuff I go on with so much is just a crazy technique to bring more players into the game, as are all the zany and bizarre titles that I give myself and others as the occasion fits and opportunites arise. Incidentally, my favourite one (so far) is the “with CLASP” el-Supremo Commander thing. I still laugh at that when I flash past it on your blog. So I am amusing even myself. Weird huh?
I don’t really go around talking about myself as though I were some other entity – though since I have been doing it so often around Blog-Land it has “occasionally” been slipping out in general conversation. And I have noticed it does amuse people – a bit like “the Rock” in the WWE. Now THAT guy has the third person persona down to a fine (and utterly ridiculous) art. I absolutely go into hysterical laughter at that dude’s antics.
I think his name is Dwayne Johnson and he is now starring in many Hollywood movies – just as the Gazz-Man has in your ParkesyWood movies – LOL!
And while we are trading back-slaps – Gazza you have been a BIG player and definitely a BIG-HITTER here at Blog-Land. I think you have definitely found your niche in life.
And I wish you EVERY success with as far as you push all this. I know that without the trail that you and Dean Holland have blazed for others to follow that this entire Alex Jeffreys coaching course would be so much poorer. He’s gotta be laughing at all the pressure that you guys have taken off him.
While I am on AJ – dude if you read this, and I reckon you probably will at some stage – you have “engineered” all of this. Here we go again… the Gazz-Man knows this AJ.
The Gazz-Man also knows that you have your advisors and some of them may also be reading this (so howdy Filsy and Scheffy and Fox-man and Cheney-man) and the Gazz-man is grateful for this big F500 experiment so he can leave his damn family and personal friends ALONE for once and target so many new “friends!”
My family and personal friends are therefore also VERY thankful to you AJ for taking the pressure off THEM and allowing them more peace. They all reckon that 10 minutes with me is like getting a root canal filling – LOL!
OK – getting serious now – I want to wish the entire F500 team and Alex and all the admin and supporters all the very best for the coming year. If we all work hard for the common good then who knows? I reckon this team with all the talent that it absolutely BRISTLES with is capable of ANYTHING. Watch out internet!
Gary SIMPSON (I so much wanted to say ****-***)
PS: Gazza, I’m no expert (did I say that?) on turtles/tortoises – except maybe the TMNT’s – but… I think their shells/carapaces must be an all-in-one-body-suit-armour type arrangement. If it wasn’t then how could they dive? They would drown in their own houses, so to speak.
I’m only going from memory here but don’t the head and arms and legs and tail bits all articulate in some way with the shell?
Dunno. Why don’t you Google it man? Stop wasting the Gazz-Man’s brainpower on turtle anatomy.
Say hi to the young feller!
Gazz-Man from Gazz-Land (hehe)
Morning all,
And what a great morning it is, start of a New Year and who knows where this journey will lead for many of us. It is great to see over the last 24-hours some first-time posters who have started to come out and join the party. A great comment by Hilary reinforcing my comments on taking action. Like she says we are all on different timetables so we will all progress at different speeds. Only you will know if you are serious and committed enough to your success in building an online business. But one thing is certain you have to start somewhere and take those small steps otherwise you will never, NEVER get to where you want to go. So please take the first step on this first day of the New Year and if we haven’t heard from you yet just say hello. Even make a commitment on here if you want like my goals above to make you more accountable. You’ll feel better once you have. Believe me!
>JJ & Jason – Wow – 5-figures by the end of the year. I’ll be happy when I get a consistent 3 figures as a stepping stone anyway, LOL ! But like Hilary says we are all starting from different points. I’ll have to keep a close eye (my Ninja-eye!) on you two as I’m sure I can learn a lot from you.
>Paull – Hey everyone you have to get over to Paull’s site and see this post. http://paullhamilton.com/the-second-edition-of-the-profit-pulling-project-is-nearly-here/. Awesome. I won’t say anymore as I’ve added my feedback there and don’t want to spoil the surprise.
>Denis – And another original idea found here as well folks. Check it out http://deniscaronportal.com/internetmarketing/%e2%80%9cprofit-pulling-project-newsletter/
I think these 2 guys along with Gordon and his Wife here – http://www.gordanbos.com/uncategorized/my-wife-debbie-and-myself-we-were-rolling-around-in-tears-after-watching-this-video/ and the ones that have caught my eye in the competition for one of the “Top 3″ special bonus spots as detailed in the prior post here http://garryparkes.com/videos/get-positioned-for-the-1-million-prize/
There’s still time to get featured in the second edition. It will close it off at the weekend sometime though. I’ll let you know exactly when later.
>Gary – you mean there is only one of you Gary and not two Garys. Now I’m confused, LOL. Oh, and you now look a head-case in over 650+ websites – you deserve it
But you’ve let me down Gary on the turtle/tortoise question. Didn’t even understand your answer – carapaces !!! what???? I thought it was a nice and simple questions
Right that’s me done for most of the day as I’m out until late afternoon. Catch up later …
Hi Garry,
It’s taking me for ever to get round everyone just to say hi, so I don’t want you to think I am being rude, but I’m turbo hopping to get round as many of the F500 that I can. If I wait for you to come to me, it might never happen. Thanks to all who have already visited Planet Valz.
This means I have a standard message for everyone, and I’m leaving it as a comment to the latest post. I hope this does not offend you as communication and generosity is what is driving this.
Firstly, my wishes to you for a Happy, Healthy and very Prosperous Year 2009.
Secondly, I want to give you a New Year present, but you need to go to http://daybydaymarketing.com/2008/12/choose-your-new-year-present/
I would appreciate being added to your blogroll if I am not already on it (for the third time of asking, but, hey, I do realise you’re very busy). I am happy to add you to mine when you come over.
Valerie

Hi Gary,
Great start to the New Year, getting everyone out there on the blogosphere to write down their resolutions & plans and be accountable for them.
I referenced some of what you said on my post, since I truely believe that if we all keep an eye out for one another and support each other through our accountabilities, we will get ahead of the game much quicker and further then expected.
I guess my 90 day plan is more or less like everyone elses except I wanted to add that last ingredient that we all should adhere to:
Have fun and enjoy running your blog for 2009. It will make it that much sweeter
regards
Guy
Hi ALL,
I NEED HELP …
I am wanting to do my next update of my Blogroll and at the same time implement some of the changes that were extensively discussed on post http://garryparkes.com/alex-jeffreys/530/
One plugin suggested to me to help to is called ‘Collapsing Links’. Seems ideal for what I want to do. Effectively, it would enable me to have everyone on the front page split into different categories but the Blogroll lists can be compressed until someone clicks on it to expand the list. Unfortunately, I can’t get it to work.
Anyone any ideas or suggest a useful alternative. I have already contacted the plugin developer to see if he has any ideas. Really, there is not point in my doing any changes to the Blogroll until I get this sorted as I would have to do everything twice.
Hi Garry,
Great post, there is nothing like making a public statement to help hold yourself accountable. I have also kept my planning down to the next few months because I keep altering my plans as Alex teaches us new things.
I am prepared to go out on a limb and list some of my definite goals for 2009.
Personal
1. Vacation this year to vist wife’s family in Venezuela.
2. Lose 80lbs. target weight is 250, currently tipping the scales at 330.
Entrepreneurial
1. Create systems for all my tasks and start outsourcing.
2. Find at least 10 serious JV partners.
Business
1. Build a mailing list of 7300 subscribers. (that’s 20 per day)
2. Continue to write for the Profit Pulling Project, re-brand, and distribute.
3. Write my ebook series “The Web 2 Whammy” which I will use to build my list and then monetize with a follow up video series.
4. Spend at least 1 hour a day oil rig hopping. 1/2 hour for students and 1/2 hour with Comment Kahuna.
Income
1. To generate a minimum of $50,000 with my online business this year.
I think that should keep me busy. Now that I have told the world, I will be ever motivated to achieve those goals.
I mentioned that I am going to keep writing for the PPP. I would like some input from everyone to help me determine future topics. I have placed a poll on my blog for you to vote. You can add a topic if you don’t see what you want.
Your input is highly appreciated and will let me provide value to the largest number of people.
Garry, I like your Web 2.0 chicklet. Did you see my post about Onlywire? I have put out a call to arms for all of the students to add the Onlywire button to their blog and start using it when they are doing their daily oil rig hopping.
Alex started the Web 2.0 ball rolling down the hill by getting everyone to sign up for Twitter and we can turn it into giant snowball if everyone does just this one little thing.
JT
PS – Onlywire submits to 23 differnt Web 2.0 sites simultaneously, including Twitter.
Hi Garry
I just wanted to stop by and wish you a Happy New Year. I hope 2009 is your year.
Good luck with your newsletter and your business. I have all my goals written down for 2009.

Hi Garry,
I’m having a yea for me moment for a number of reasons.
1. I posted on my blog this morning about my lack of being accountable and that by Monday I will have a WRITTEN plan.
2. I wrote my post before I read about it someplace else. OH… Like here!
There is nothing better than to realize your own weaknesses and decide to make a change. Seeing the goals of others will help me set some realistic goals.
Thanks for the push,
Mrs Renee Olson

Gazza Parkes!
I think the Gazz-Man (me – just to save confusion) has really done it this time. OH-OH! I have fired an opening 2009 salvo across Blogland that is sure to get me into strife with some folks. But hey, what else is new? I keep slipping into Good-Gazz-Man and Bad-Gazz-Man mode.
It was so nice at the ancestral home of the Gazz-Man this morning that I took a pic of my tropical paradise and whanged it up on my Gazz-Blog. Am I spamming “Gazz” here?
Anyway, I gave you a plug on the PPP#2 while I was at it big boy, so come and have a read and tell me if I have smacked the PEEPS around too hard. Or just come and see what the Gazz-Man has to put up with every time he walks outside. It’s damn TOUGH!
Gazz-Man from Gazz-Land
Garry,
I am refining my goals and will post them by the end of the weekend.
In other areas: I the answer to your turtle/tortise question is that they have a uinbody construction ie the shell is attached.
Also I have been trying to put aweber forms in the left sidebar of my blog without success. Have you used aweber to insert the newsletter form in your left sidebar or some other method. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Ken

Hey Garry
Happy New Year Bud.
Jason and I have a topic for the next couple of PPP newsletters, but if you or anyone else want anything specifically covered for future newletters, let us know.
Plus we have a new report for everyone on our blog – It was downloaded 356 times yesterday
.
Cheers

Ps Don’t stress over the blogroll mate.
Hi Garry,
I took some time off over the holidays but did start working on my goals for 2009. Haven’t got it completely finished yet, but have some similar ones to what I’ve read in this thread.
Basically, I decided to start with mindmapping and just throw everything out there that I wanted to see happen. I’m now in the process of prioritizing and putting it to a timeline.
My plan is to finish it over the weekend and then write a public post on it.
All the best in 2009!

Always so much going on over here. I have to plan to spend time when I stop by, and catch up on everything.
The music is fun, made me smile and wanna dance!
Been working on a new series of blogs, plugging this and that into Word Press based on fellow student recommendations, and looking forward to the coaching calls on Thursday and Friday….
