Just got my new blog up and running. Am finding Alex’s coaching fascinating. I’ve been marketing online for a few years now but… never realised the value a blog will bring to my business.

Your blog is fine. In fact more than fine it’s a damn site better than mine was when I first got it up. In fact you’ve got things on there now that I haven’t got on my blog now and that I would like to have, but they are on my ‘C’ list of priorities.

DO NOT aim for perfection. Sorry, to be blunt here, but you are focusing on entirely the wrong things at this point. You have a very functional blog – far better than a lot of the others out there. However, many of those others will be making far greater strides towards their goals because they are using the 80/20 principle that Alex preaches.

You are focusing all your efforts at the moment on something that is only 20% relevant to where you are going. Do you understand where I am coming from here? Stop trying to get the perfect blog – start focusing of the 80% that matters at the moment and that will make genuine progress for you. The refinements to the blog can come later. Look at my blog – is it the best in the world? NO far from it. But is it serving the purpose I intended for it?-Absolutley – it is one of most active and visited blogs in our student community. And why is that? It is because I have focused on the 80% that makes a difference and worry about the minor things later.

Sorry, if it sounds as though I am picking on you, because I am not. I am only trying to get you back on what I see as the correct track. And what Alex basically said to us all the other night when he said everything else should be on the backburner and our entire (ENTIRE) efforts should be towards traffic generation.

You can choose to go on whatever path that you choose but from my viewpoint you will fall further behind. Just my personal view, others may differ. Resist the urge for perfection. You should be commended for getting your blog in the form it is now and should give yourself a pat on the back. There are many, many more out there who have not even got as far as you and the longer they ponder and strive to make sure everything is going to be perfect the instant hit the web, the more that they will fall behind. Really there is absolutely no excuse for nobody having their own blog up and running by now. Many students have offered to help out. I have offered to do it for FREE as detailed on my hosting page. The thing that is holding these people back is a mindset change. Simple as that.

Anyway, enough said I think. You either get this or you don’t. You either agree with me or not. You will either make great progress in all of this or you won’t. And I am talking to everyone in general here. Each individual has to decide for themselves if the above applies to them or not.

Hope the above spurs some more people into action …

I envy all you guys with awesome blogs! I’ve struggled for over a week and have messed it up completely. Boohoo.

I tried to leave a post but you have to register to do it. Most people will probably not want to do this, hence why you have no feedback yet. Have a look in your wp-admin section and take off the feature that forces comment registration. Some people are leaving it to force registration but I personally think you should make it as easy as possible for people to leave comments.

Did my answer to your plugin problem help sort it?

Also removed your URL for reasons stated before and reiterated by Alex on the Webinar last night -no promoting PPPS or directing to sites that are not to blogs or informational content (ie. NO selling/squeeze pages)

Though bit late in the day for me now !!!

It should help to collect the names easier.

Sorry just noticed your comment re. problems with getting plugins installed.

The only time I have had issues in installing plugins is I didn’t upload the plugin to the correct place. As well as dragging the full folder, some of them require you to load a .php file into the wp-content/plugins/ folder as well.

Check again the precise installations instructions with the plugin. In fact what plugin are you having problems with?

Looks as though there we a few others who had the same problem (though I think intermittently) but all seeems to be behind us now.

If any student / reader out there knows how to get plugins installed please get in touch. I am having major problems I have uploaded the unzipped files to my blog website wpconten/plugins folder but the plugins do not become available in my inactive plugins folder on my blog.
