Key to Success – Positivity
We are all different and our differences provide contrast in our life’s to make the world a more interesting place. We all have our own personal preferences, likes and dislikes, pet-loves and hates and our personalities encapsulate the choices we make. We would live in a very boring world if everyone saw things exactly the same way and thankfully we don’t.
The fact that two people can disagree doesn’t mean one is right and one is wrong. I love Football (the soccer variety for international readers!) but I fully appreciate that many across the world don’t and like some other sport. In fact another group of people dislike sport with a vengeance. (Now they must be wrong, surely, I mean what is wrong with these people – of course, I jest and I reemphasise that these are just personal choices and these differences amongst us provide the immense choices we all have available to us today).
I used sport in the example above, but each and everyday we make choices in all areas of our life. The choices we make will have a bearing on the direction our life takes and if we manage to succeed or not in whatever pursuit we take up. Some of these are short term choices with likely very little lasting consequences; what I will have for breakfast? Others are more long term; what career choice will I make? However, the choices we make are only one factor in how things will turn out. It is how you approach the choices we all make and the ‘mindset’ you adopt that will be the biggest determinate of success or failure.
In simplistic terms do you have a positive optimistic outlook on life or a negative pessimistic one? If you approach things from a stance of negativity each challenge or hurdle that comes your way will be a major trauma for you. A ‘negatively’ minded person will give up before they achieve their goal. The fact that they ‘fail’ and cannot complete the task at hand re-enforces their mindset and they take the view ‘I told you so. I said I wouldn’t be able to do that and I was right’.
“Whether you think you can or think you can’t — you are right”- Henry Ford
Of course, a positive person would approach each challenge that comes their way differently. They are more determined to reach their goal. They understand that everything won’t be ‘plain sailing’ but will ensure that each obstacle they are confronted with will be overcome. Either by their own efforts, educating themselves where need be, or locating people who can help them out. Either way, they manage to complete the task and as a consequence they ‘grow’ as a result. They become better as a consequence and the next time faced with a similar situation it is easier to complete. This ability to succeed at something is self-fueling. The more someone with a positive and optimistic outlook succeeds they more they want to achieve.
The “Law of Attraction” is at work here, as so famously talked about in the film “The Secret”.
Since I started my blog and have freely helped people out since day one I have seen many examples of the principles of the “Law of Attraction” in action. People’s actions and statements often reveal their truly intentions; if they are a ‘giver’ or a ‘taker’, positive or negative, optimist or pessimist. I could give some extreme examples of the negativity of people I have encountered on some rare occasions since my blog has been up and running or of examples I have witnessed on Twitter. Similarly, I have witnessed some fantastic positive contributions by people and I feel privileged to have encountered these. I am sure you could do the same. It is these extreme examples that highlight the nature of what I am talking about here. One can instantly tell by the reactions of some people; if they will be a success or a failure. In those extreme cases it really is as simple as that I feel. In the areas in between, where many people fall, the consequences are not as clear-cut but without doubt those with a positive slant, faced with the same situation as a negative-minded person will make far more progress than the latter.
Of course, anyone who in the past has had a negative bias can at any point choose to take an alternate route. Choose to believe that anything they set out to do they can achieve. Take solace from that fact that for most people the goals we try to strive for have probably been achieved by someone else. Thus any challenges you encounter along the way, someone knows the solution. In order to be truly successful, you must not give up when confronted by such situations instead plan a way to overcome them. But of course you have to really take this on board.
I have been privileged to attend many seminars and workshops by the world renowned personal development coach Tony Robbins. He has a knack, a gift, to truly make people understand their own deep down constraints that hold them back and I am better for those experiences.
But in the end it all comes back to choices. You can choose to accept the apparent easier route to failure by not pushing yourself or choose the path to success and grow as a consequence. I know which path I have chosen and any negativity or obstacles along the way are brushed aside. I hope you are of character where you will do the same. People of like minds always gel together. In the world of online business it is particularly important. You have far better chance of establishing Joint Venture (JV) Partners along the way by being positive rather than negative. I will leave you all with that thought

Hi Garry!
What a positive post! I so agree with you, it’s all about how you are and the words you say. I have tried to take away a lot of negative words from my daily speaking. Words like Can’t and Not have only negative meaning when put in a sentence.
But then again I’m always a happy guy with a smile on his face.
It can be a challenge to remember who we are and what our purpose is unless we constantly choose to surround ourselves with people who are of like mind.
Thanks for writing such an honest and open post.
“But in the end it all comes back to choices. You can choose to accept the apparent easier route to failure by not pushing yourself or choose the path to success and grow as a consequence.”
I choose to continue forward with my goals and dreams. Sometimes it’s best to keep them to myself or only share them with people who I know are supportive.
Warmly,
Theresa

Garry, fantastic post. I agree that like minded individuals will end up grouping together while the nay sayers will eventually go on their miserable way to continue blaming others for their misfortunes.
You didn’t say this exactly but I find it’s true. I am glad to have participated and continue to give of my time and talents to those who also put forth effort. You can really tell the freebie seekers out there very quickly.
Nothing is wrong with offering free help, advice, and work but everything has to be done in moderation. I appreciate the Profit Pulling Project and Dominating Twitter which you offer for free but has such a great impact with your business.
When you finally offer a paid product, your subscribers will check out your offers simply out of respect and because you offer value. The law of reciprocation I believe is in play here.
Anyways, I got my SimpleEcovers.com site up and running so now all of you can come and get great graphics at great prices. Thanks Garry for helping me to get it started. Now I just have to work on my Twitter following. You rock!

Hey,
PMW here…
Then we’re all in trouble in Vegas!
Seriously though, I agree with all the points that you put above. People generally attract like-minded people to themselves, so negative people surround themselves with more negativity and then feel that thay have proved themselves right, whereas positive people surround themselves with other positive influences and therefore feel that they also prove themselves right. It’s the whole thing of the self-fulfilling prophecy.
I have no time for negativity I’m afraid, I’m too busy working on world domination and causing all sorts of mayhem and mischief…and I personally think my corner of the world is a lot better for it! But then I would think that, wouldn’t I…

Found your site thanks to your post on the BFM giveaway (I was lucky enough to snaffle one, it finally arrived in Australia, and I’m knee deep in researching how to set it up) but this post touched an issue close to my heart.
My life lesson has been about being positive, regardless of circumstances. I’ve gone through all kinds of trials and tribulations (haven’t we all, really) and clawed a path upward out of feeling like a victim so that I could be more positive and attract more positive outcomes.
Having said that, I am still surrounded by many friends with negative perspectives.
I don’t know if they represent lessons I’ve yet to learn, or that I have them still in my life to challenge me to maintain my outlook despite their influence, but the comment above that like attracts like drove me to reply. It doesn’t always. Sometimes, opposites attract.
Negative as they can be, my friends and partner are great people, with a lot to offer the world. We balance each other, and hopefully learn from each other.
Tolerance is not just about accepting people of different races and religions - it’s about accepting people with different attitudes and perspectives as well. I see too many ‘new age’ people who casually disregard anyone who doesn’t share their perspective as being unenlightened. It strikes me as dangerously close to how the upper classes used to disregard the commoners, or even how white males were convinced they were better than anyone of a different race or gender.
I’ve chosen a positive outlook, and I’ve had to fight on occasion to keep it, but I still believe that EVERYONE has something special and unique to offer the world, and deserves to be valued for it - irrespective of race, gender, religion OR outlook.

Hey Garry,
A family member just yesterday questioned what I was doing online and they thought it might be time for a change. A little upsetting as this was coming from a person that’s not working at all. What they don’t know is that I am making money, just not tons of it (yet). That’s because I don’t talk to anyone anymore about what it is I do online because they just don’t understand and frankly have never offered any support.
What does this have to do with your post you say.
This post is about Positivity and even after all the comments and lack of interest and support I still remain very positive about my online business success. If I’m not absolutely positive that I will be successful, then I’m absolutely positive that I won’t be. Hey, I like that. I think I’ll coin that phrase, unless someone else already has done so.

Hi All,
I kind of have this fear that at the end of my life I might feel I haven’t lived up to all my potential. That fear is subsiding as I continue to stay positive and take action on-line. The money frees up your time to live a full life. But just the inner growth from making this all work is tremendously fulfilling.
As my business grows everyday I am experiencing this growth. I can see how every day can and should have much excitement in it. Great Post Garry. I’ll see you in Las Vegas if your going.
Rob
Hi Garry,
Just reading a couple of these posts.

I haven’t met you yet Rob but I see you are going to Las Vegas and so am I, so I guess we will meet there.

Hey Garry,
been a while. Nice post. Nice to know you’re still going strong! Good for you. This is a brilliant post - I think a we’ve all come a long way. I myself try to surrounded myself with positive people. My wife tends to be a bit negative about things and I have been working with her to get that positive vibe going. This is what i have started to do. It’s sounds a bit whacky but it’s working for me. I have a few post-it notes in my washroom with some positive affirmations - success as in IM, health etc. I have been doing this for a couple of months and you know what - after a few weeks I have started to see a huge difference in my life. It’s truely magical.
I’ve also decided to concentrate on creating IM Software products (since I am a software devloper in my daytime job) and I am have tremendouns success. I am also doing a lot of PPC marketing on CPA offers.
Keep in touch my friend…

Hi Garry
Good to see your progress. I found a really good Free Traffic Getting SEO Plug-In from Jeff Johnson, that you can use to grab more free traffic from the search engines.
Just plug it in to your blog, and then watch it go to work for you almost instantly:
http://jeykumara.com/recommends/TheUndergroundTrainingLab/
The software installs in minutes and it’s SO EASY to use.
The best part is that he’ll even show you how to get more traffic with it as soon as you’re finished installing it.
Download it right now while he’s giving it away for free:

Don’t worry:
If you already have a WP blog you can simply plug it in and let it work its Traffic-Getting magic.
And if you don’t have a blog Jeff shows you how to install a free one in as little as 2 minutes using a secret “push a button” technology that even the newest of newbies could use.
100% free and Installs in minutes.
Enjoy,

Hi Gary,
Very insightful article with lots of different points in it. One point that is very important is that we have the ability to choose how we feel. When we are feeling discouraged for whatever reason, we have to make an effort and choose not to feel like that anymore, since it is our choice. We can do that for any way we are feeling. The more I find myself doing so the easier it is becoming.

Hi Garry,
Great article and goes hand in hand with planning.
Being positive is crucial but it’s also important to not let lifes little knocks dent your positivity. One way of helping to overcome these knocks, is to maintain a plan. Sometimes, when I’ve had a real knock back, I take some time, get myself together and go back to my plan. It works every time, because my plan motivates me and if I’m motivated, I’m back with that all important positive attitude.
Andrew.
Gary,
Couldn’t agree with you more. One of my biggest challenges has been to overcome the negativity I grew up with. I am still trying after 53 years. I have been impressed with Alex’s class and have appreciated what you have done and are doing to help us all out.
Thanks again,
Gene
