New Blog Theme

Just a brief post today.

As regular visitors will no doubt tell the Blog looks totally different now than my original one when I started it at the start of the Alex Jeffreys Coaching Course way back at the end of November 2008.

Not got it quite as I wanted yet, but I will be tweaking the layout until I have it exactly as I want it. Let me know what you think.?

As always I appreciate your comments :-)

IE7 Operation Aborted Solution

Well as you all no doubt know I spent all day yesterday sorting out my Blog as it wouldn’t load properly in Internet Explorer 7 but it would in other browsers (Firefox, Chrome etc). But it didn’t just effect my site as there were many other Alex Jeffreys students effected, and I guess many other sites across the world had the same problem. When you attempt to go to the problem websites you got a message along the lines of this:-

“Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet Site …..
Operation Aborted”

Higher Page Rank: Missing information

I have been focusing a bit on trying to get a higher rank in the listings for the search term ‘Alex Jeffreys‘ on Google as per the $1,000 competition Alex announced. Now for all those readers that are NOT Alex Jeffreys students, understanding how to improve your Google search position is highly important as it allows you to apply that knowledge to any search term and thus dominate the crucial top positions for any markets you choose. So it is essential to understand how Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) works to really be on top of your competitors in any niche.

So, I’ve been going through all my Alex Jeffreys Coaching Course notes and trying to put things into practice to increase my ranking. Now before Christmas I was in the Top 5 returned results for ‘Alex Jeffreys‘ but it seems the more popular my blog and subsequent increase in traffic, I have actually slipped down the rankings to number 21 !! Obviously I’m not that pleased about this so am going to make a concerted effort to get up in the Top 5. This is going to be an ongoing task until I meet my objective.

Clever Student BlogRoll Changes

Finally got around to doing my super-duper changes to the way my complete Stundent Blogroll is displayed on the screen. So, for those that haven’t quite noticed or worked out what changes I have done they can be split into 4 bits:

1. Main BlogRoll
This consists of two bits and both can be expandable/collapsable by clicking the arrows (or the small square box on some browsers!). The first bit is titled ‘Top Links’ that conists of 4 links at the moment that are automatically expanded to be visible and include links that I directly add.

The second is titled ‘Most Active Blogs’ and is intended to be exactly what it says. You see I thought about what is the real use and benefit of a Blogroll, and it is clearly to go quickly and easily to those blogs with things happening on them. At the moment the count stands at 59 entries and these are initially ‘hidden’ but can, by clicking the arrow to the immediate left of the entry, be expanded to reveal the entries. Now I want to get this count down to no more than 50 so I will be adding/removing entries from the list as time goes by. Initially, in preparing this initial list of 59 I made a crude subjective attempt of deciding who should be on this list based on my own visits to the blogs, the frequency of posting/commenting on the blog and general level of contribution to the overall Alex Jeffreys Community. I know for a fact I will have missed some obvious candidates (whoops, I can think or some already!) but it was my first stab at it and I will be adding/removing to it as time goes by. Remember my target is to have no more than 50 so anybody added will mean someone is removed!! (Plus also I have to loose 9 to start off with!!). Also, remember there is no precise scientific formulae I am using for who is on or off. If you feel you are worthy of inclusion compared to other entries on it and feel I’ve inadvertently missed you off then please let me know. (You don’t have to say who you think you should replace, just let me know you think your blog is sufficient to be added and I’ll decide who is replaced.)

Web Prosperity MLM Opportunity

Well after a lot of consideration I’ve decided to sign-up to the WebProsperity opportunity that is all the buzz at the moment. Must admit I’ve been a bit slow on the uptake of this as I got advance notification of this nearly a week ago now. To be honest never done anything like this before so it is a real first for me but I thought what they hell, no harm in signing up (costs nothing) and just see where it leads. After all the tools do look extremely useful, but one thing I will be ensuring is that it doesn’t conflict and detract from the main core of what I am doing on the Alex Jeffreys Coaching course.

URGENT UPDATE: 05JAN – See end of post to see what I’ve just found out …

In the end I think the thing that swayed it for me and caused me to sign up, was the vast number of fellow students that are signng up for it (some of the big established guys as well).

So maybe some of these guys with far more knowledge than me know a good thing when they see it, hence why I signed up. So I’m sceptical but open minded to see what it can deliver my online business.

If you want to follow my lead you can get in here

Nothing ventured, nothing gained I say. I guess you all know me well enough by now; I will tell things to you straight and you can rest assured that I will do the same with this as well.
