A Year in Internet Marketing
Well who would have believed it; My blog is now just over one year old.
During the incredible roller coaster journey over the last year I have written 75 posts and received virtually exactly 3,500 comments! And before that date I had never written a blog let alone understood how to install and manage one so it has been a big learning curve but an enjoyable one.
When I look at those figures I think - WOW! I did that; of course with a lot of help and encouragement along the way from my many visitors (and many new friends) who I am very grateful to
Now I do feel a tad guilty because in recent months I have neglected to find the time to post which has been a big mistake because the reason for my “success” has been entirely down to my personal blog which I started when I enrolled on the Alex Jeffreys’ Internet Marketing Course a year ago.
Yes, just a year ago I started out as a student of Alex Jeffreys and now the tables have really turned around. As many of my regular visitors know, over the past 6 months or so ,I have been working with Alex as his Operation’s Manager (right-hand man, side kick, gofer … or whatever else you want to call me!). And the only reason that came about was fully embracing the coaching course and putting into practice in a massive way what we as students were taught. Well it worked, and it has ended up with me doing what I am doing now.
But of course it has meant in my new capacity that I have had to spend less time on my own business and online efforts; hence my reason (ok excuse!) for not being as active with my blog as I should be. But come the new year I am going to rectify that. The blog will be one of my main focal points going forward again; to post great educational material and tutorial videos on many things to do with building an online business; and of course all free for everyone.
So those that are just starting out in Internet Marketing and building an online business and don’t know what direction to go in - I know how you feel as I felt the same this time last year. But if you have a look back at my Archive Posts you will learn a lot as I share my experiences along the way and find out the new skills I had to learn to push forward and be successful.
PS.
So for all the new students who have enrolled on the recently re-opened
“Alex Jeffreys Limited Coaching Course”
….. ….. I’d like to say a big WELCOME. I was very likely where many of you are now a year ago. You’re in for a treat; not just the skills and direction you are shown throughout the coaching that lead you to success but also in many unexpected areas as well. I have many new friends as an unepected ”bonus” of the coaching and this more than anything else has made the last year even more worthwhile and special
So roll on the next year. And to all the many new friends I say THANKS for making the past year of “Internet Marketing” such a special one. It’s been fab and I hope you’ve enjoyed it too

Hi Garry,
I would like to say how in one year you have achieved so much and your blog is absolutely fantastic. I really hope that I reach this stage in one year like yourself. I have recently enrolled in Alex Jeffreys coaching course in October 2009 and I am really progressing with it, and I would just like to say how Alex Jeffreys and yourself make the stages of the course so simple, and the support is out of this world. I would recommend anybody who is thinking of joining this course to join straight away, because if you are thinking of taking this business seriously then this is the course to take! I am really enjoying the course and I can’t wait to meet up with you guys and fellow students in the future.
Warmest Regards & Best Wishes
LEE PARRY
Thanks for the kind words Lee
Without doubt you will be amazed what you can achieve in such a small period of time.
I have no doubt that for anyone who is prepared to put in some effort then anyone can make a success of things online in any niche.
Of course, most people are looking for that “Get Rich” scheme so drift from opportunity to opportunity and never get anywhere … I’m really glad I saw the light a year ago
Thanks for posting Lee and all the best on the course.
Hi Gary
Yes it’s amazing that a year has gone by since we began our journey with Alex Jeffreys. Some people like you, Dean Holland and Gary Simpson have moved on in leaps and bounds, really taking hold of what we were taught and putting it all into practice. So well done on that.
I have been thinking about this anniversary too and have just put up a post on my own blog about it. I decided to have a quick look through the blog links I had from the first cohort of students and was saddened to see how many were showing ‘domain lapsed’ or had no new content since the beginning of the year.
Others, like me were still plodding along slowly. Some had changed course completely (as I am working on) and are now working on their new business ventures.
I read Gary Simpson’s stats on his blog post and thought I would check mine - makes me sadly ashamed really, but then I never really got things going as much as I wanted to. I mustn’t make excuses, but then again it is important never to give up, even if things don’t go as hoped for.
In the last couple of months I have started two new online sites with my husband and what I learned with Alex has really helped us on our way with it. Learning is never wasted. I have greater plans for the next year and I intend carrying them out, I just need to be more accountable I think.
As an aside I have seen comments about the MWA 2.0 forum. Did I read somewhere that you were the person to contact about access to that? I feel like I have been missing out there.
Anyway, good luck with your renewed plans for your own business and if you want some more content for a newsletter, I am always happy to write for you.
I must admit, I miss the camaraderie of last year among the course members. I know that we are all busy or occupied in our own businesses, but the support network is important too.
Thanks for being one of those supports - and when are you going to get Alex to keep his promise of having a meeting in the UK? Much as I would love to go to Las Vegas it just isn’t possible for me at the moment. I’m sure that there would be plenty of other people who would appreciate it too!
All the best and thanks!
Hilary
p.s. What’s happened to my avatar? I seem to have gone back to being a squiggly thing!
Hi Gazza,
Like you I have written my own (TEMPLE) highlights for the last year. If anyone is interested they are over there at the … (nah! I can’t say it again - LOL! That name started out as a joke and it kinda stuck)
If you apply yourself, as we both have - albeit in a very different manner - then success will come. Intelligent ACTION will see it come to pass.
I encourage all the new folks to learn what can be done from Garry. He’s a good, honest bloke who will always try to help. Also check out my own blog and some of the others - Dean Holland, Mike Ottman, Nikki Stephens, Dan Briffa, Adam Spiel, Hillary Dickinson and all the other MWA1.0 enrolees (sorry, too difficult to name them all here)
Good luck everyone and well done Gazza. I have a feeling that 2010 will bear the fruit from all the crops that we have planted in 2009.
Gary Simpson
Well Garry mate…
What a year eh !!!
You know when you actually sit and think about it, and I mean really think it through it’s one heck of a journey.
You stood out from the start as a select few did and you have made a success from it, congratulations !!
Great to have you as a friend and I only look forward to the next coming year to see what that brings !!
All the best mate, speak soon
Dean
Hi Gary,
A year already! What happen?
Congrats on working with Alex, there will be loads of gold nuggets to learn from him.
Here’s to a massive 2010!
Cheers
Jerry
Hi Hilary,
Great to see you – although you have reverted back to a squiggly thing!! I think you are posting with a different email address from your earlier posts and you haven’t a gravatar setup for that one.
Great to see you and your husband have implemented not one, but two new sites in recent months. I hope both ventures go really well for you. And how about your daughter Lizzie? Is she still writing her personal Blog? Alas, to say, my son never quite got things going on that front; got the domain and everything but he just went off and had fun elsewhere like children of that age do. Maybe something for him to get into when he’s a bit older!
Thanks for your kind words about the support. We had such a wonderful time on that course and like you say the camaraderie was great. I’m sure come 2010 many of the students who couldn’t make Vegas (either last year of the upcoming one in January) will be able to meet up in some event in the UK. Alex has managed to get along to a few UK events this year but not many. Hopefully, be able to rectify that next year.
PS. I’ve sent you a quick email too
Hi Gary,
Thanks for the nice comments Gary … but I know it sounds a bit like “mutual patting on the back” but the comments about been helpful and honest certainly apply to you too!
Integrity is the top attribute when doing business online. If you don’t have that and a trustworthy reputation online (or offline) then it’s a very sad reflection of you has an individual.
And of course, taking ACTION is fundamental to moving things forward in any venture. Things don’t just happen; you have to make them happen and that is particularly true in an online business. We have both done what it takes over 2009 and are bearing the fruits now and I’m sure next year things will blossom and be even more fruitful.
Have a great Christmas and New Year
Hi Jerry,
Didn’t see you pop in and comment there
Nice to see you and hope business is really going well for you.
Yep, a year has passed by … in fact I recall you were the first JV deal I really did with anyone! I seem to remember I sent a promotion for you out while Alex was doing one of the Live Student Webinars for the coaching Course we were both on.
It was a great feeling seeing the orders come in and end up paying for my coaching fees while I was listening to Alex live !!
Hope you and your family have a great Christmas season and a great 2010.
Thanks,
Garry
Dear Garry,
I admire your success and dedication. It is amazing that you attribute your success to blogging. It shows it can be done.
Is this because of SEO (and or) the way you are getting traffic to your blog?
Hi Garry,
Firstly apologies for spelling your name wrong there..duh
That’s a great story, didn’t realise you did that on the webinar - great days
We’ll have to speak next year bro - do some projects!
cheers
Jerry
Hi Garry
Its hard to believe that this blog is only one year old, amazing what you have achieved in such a short space of time!
Mine is not 6 month old, and your comments re inforce the fact that I need to give myself a kick in the RS and start creating blog posts again.
This is the bread and butter of what we do and the best way of getting your name out there.
Best of luck in the new year!
Wow 3500 comments… that’s crazy, my blog is like 3 years old and only 100 comments. Thou after alexs coaching; things are picking up fast.
keep up the great work!
@Evan,
Don’t do any special to get traffic to my blog - just the stuff that Alex teaches on the course. After a while it takes on a life of it’s own and traffic just comes
@Peter,
Yes blogging is very important. It is an avenue for people to really get to know and trust you.
The “social proof” that is really important and differentiates you from the masses of other people out there on the Internet.
Hey Garry,
My how time is flying by lol !!
You were part of my inspiration to motor on …. having a chuckle thinking about your MWA Video on the phone lol !!
This year has been difficult on a personal level, but I have tried to keep focused …..
Product Creation & Listbuilding was a target of mine and acheived — now focusing on a 10K list …..
More products on the way , would never have thought I could achieved all I have, but it helped having you and other good people around me
Wishing you and your family a great 2010
Speak Soon,
Tommy
Garry,
Thanks for the feedback on the traffic question. What special things are you planning for next year?
Thanks
Hi Garry,
I’m glad to see you posting again. I’ll never forget the quality of your instructional videos you made for Alex’s course.
And your helpful attitude even to those, like me, who ask unusual questions or demand unexpected things.
I look forward to any new videos you’ll post and will certainly watch them to see what else I can learn from you.
Vance
Hi Gary.
Just reading your blog motivates me. If I can emulate you and the other students with my blog I know I will make it online.
Thanks for your tips and resources.
Congratulations on doing as well as you have.
Kudos to you.
Regards.
Ron Rodwell
Happy New Year!
I’ve been out of the loop for so long I had the fear that you might have all forgotten about me - then of course I remembered Gatwick and Las Vegas - say no more!! I thoroughly enjoyed our time on the Vegas adventure, and I’m just sorry that I can’t make it this time.
Echoing Hilary’s comments above, could you please gently poke Alex with a stick about the UK meet up? I’m thinking summer sometime, a beer garden, etc…(says me rather optimistically thinking we might get sun).
You’re an inspiration to those starting out and those that have fallen behind - it shows that if you work smart (not hard!), then you really can achieve so much.
Catch up with you soon,
Nikki / PMW
Hi all,
Happy New year … I need to reply to a few comments left over the Christmas period. Thanks everyone, hope your had a great holiday season whereever you are.
@Peter - Yes it is amazing when I look back just how far things have come. But anyone can do the same if they stick at it.
@Brad - Yes 3,500 comments is amazing. I was staggered when I looked at the figures myself. Not bad for someone who had never created a Blog before!!
@Tommy - Great to see you mate. Hope you have a great 2010 too as I know you have had some hard times during 2009 but still managed to keep focused. I can sense you are going to have a great year.
And yes it makes me have a chuckle too thinking about my debut performance on video. Glad it inspired you
@Evan - What am I planning? - great things. I’ll keep people posted on my blog and through my subscriber list. Thanks for taking the time to reply again and good luck with your ventures.
@Vance - Hey thanks for that about my instructional videos. Glad they were so much use to you and its nice to be appreciated particularly when you put so much effort into something
Of course, asking questions is how you move forward and it great the opportunity to interact and try and help other people. In the end its always best to have a really stong postive outlook as that is what drives me forward. Sure people can get frustrated at times but we have got to keep an eye on the bigger picture and that’s what should drive us all forward. Appreciate your comment Vance.
Hi Garry
I’m one of the latest lot in Alex’s forum. And probably about as challenged as you were in the beginning. Its going to be a great ride mastering all of this and getting to know you over time. Have fun in your new role and keep having a blast! THank you for the work you do on the forum.
Anthony
Hey Garry,
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
It’s been awhile since I blessed you with my presence. LOL
Well 2009 is over and you sure had a successful year. I can remember when we first started a year ago in Alex’ coaching program and none of us knew what we were doing. You’ve come a long way and now that you’re working for Alex you’re making zillions of dollars. Never thought I’d know a zillionaire.
I’ll try not to be a stranger and come by more often as I’m making a big push for 2010 as I think a lot of our fellow students are.
Later,
Jeff Sargent
Alright Garry
Happy new year mate
It was great meeting you in london are you going to Vegas?
Wow mate you have achieved so much what an incredible life changing journey over the last year you have had.
Im looking forward to what you have in store for 2010.
Take care mate
Marcus
Hello Gary
Only a year its seems Ive heard your name floating around for ages. Wow what a year for you.
Online marketing I thought I would never be able to do this.
at first it was mind overload, learning this then learning that. Christmas was good for me. I didnt spend so much time on the computer and started back just before new year refreshed and spent a day looking at our forum also the warrior forum, it was only then I realized I understood most of the talk, And I coundn’t believe I had taken so much onboard, But still so much to learn.
Big Thank you to AJ and yourself.
Thanks
Dean Oram
Ps can’t wait for Vegas
Time sure does fly. I wish you continued success in 2010!
Hey Garry,
It was great meeting you In London a few months ago and taking you on a tour of London lol!
Before I joine MWA 2.0 I kept an eye on the MWA 1.0 students and recall visiting your blog regulary!
Depsite challenges late last year, I have a clear focus for 2010, and your support as AJ’s business has been amazing.
Talk and hopfully meet up again soon.
Sean
Hi Garry
First time here in ages. I am still plodding along and seem to be getting nowhere fast but it’s a new year and I will have a new ebook coming out shortly it is to do with getting traffic and I need to apply some of the techniques covered myself.
Enjoy Vegas and ensure Alex lets us get the videos so that those of us unable to attend can get some benefit.
As some others have already said push Alex to organise a meeting in either the UK or Ireland so that those of us who aren’t able to get to Vegas can meet up.
Richard
Hi Garry,
You seem to have achieved so much in just one year. Congratulations! Looks as though 2010 will be a fantastic year ahead.
Keep it up - excellent stuff!
Warmest Regards
Andrew Potter
Gary:
Congratulations on making the one year mark. I know I am a little late in replying but I had to tell you congratulations.
I just started with Alex Jeffreys program and made my first blog post yesterday at http://marketingwithrick.com
I have been looking at a lot of the Fortunate 500 blogs and noticed that quite many of the blogs are either no longer working or have not been update in a long while. So for you to make it over a year now is awesome.
Please continue to post I as have really enjoyed the post I have read so far.
- Rick
Well done Garry - your blog looks the business…your PPP training vids are superb…but i guess you already knew that eh?
It’s great to see how far you’ve come in a year mate…may i congratulate you on your achievements. Seeing success stories like this can only inspire the likes of me to keep on pushing that boulder up the hill…no matter how heavy it is.
I signed up on AJs coaching nearly 4 weeks ago now and i’m slowly but surely making progress….come over and say hello when you get the time.
Onwards & Upwards
For some reason had a load of comments that I missed and didn’t reply to
@Ron
Appreciate your kind comments - all the best to you too.
Ahhh Nikki,
You missed a great adventure again in Vegas. Shame you didn’t make it this time but you were much talked about (I can feel your ears buring and your broomstick all a quivering.
Hopefully you’ll get along next time
