Free Newsletter will be released the week
Morning Guys. Things are going from strength to strength. The Newsletter is well under way and will be published this week. Release date to be announced tomorrow so check back then. I do feeling as though I’ve been letting you down folks though as yesterday I just couldn’t manage to respond to the comments. Yesterday, was ‘family day’. I’ve been working so flat out that I needed to re-charge my batteries and spend the day out with my wife and kids. In the end I’m doing all this for them. Hope you understand. So sorry, if you’ve not got the response your used to but thankfully I notice other students at times have stepped in and helped others with there questions. Thanks to everyone for your patience and once the launch of the Newsletter is out of the way, I will have more time, as at the moment it’s not just writing it - it’s all the back-end that I have to have in place as well which doesn’t have to be repeated for subsequent issues.
In edition to the Newsletter I am still dedicated to getting as many students online as possible so I am still doing the FREE installations of the PPPS and Blogs. I can get this done in less than 15 minutes once I have all the information to hand.
Hopefully you guys can help me here to put the finishing touches to somethings I need to do for the Newsletter. Here is what I like some answers or guidance to:-
- Apparently Camtasia version 3.0 Video software is free. Where do I get a copy from as I need to create a video that can be embedded on the site in a better way than Camstudio? Alternatively,
- Does anyone know how I split an AVI video without getting the audio out of sync?
- I need a volunteer to compile a list of those students that have completed the 4 steps to secure free publicity and inclusion in the launch issue. Full details, on comment 38 yesterday.
- How do I ‘cloak’ untidy URLs in my pdf document?
Talking about cloaking. There is a very experienced marketer (you can tell from his well established site), that his using some very unethical and down right naughty techniques to force traffic direct to his PPP from the efforts of the other students. I will not release his name (unless he does it again of course!), but he is doing it on a lot of the high traffic sites and we have spotted you now. Anymore, and for protection of the other students then regrettably you will be blocked.
Oh, and for the newbies out that – don’t promote your PPPs on other student’s websites. Any links should be informational links only so please be aware of that. I guess you can be excused for not knowing but please be aware of it from now on.

BTW, you reminded everyone what others have complained about:
“don’t promote your PPPs on other student’s websites”
Confusion may have arisen over this because when you ‘Leave a reply’ to a post, the fields ask for name, email and website (not blog).
I’m not sure whether this is what people are complaining about, but many people new to this may have taken it at face value and assumed it meant their PPP website. And for some, it will even have been already filled in by default. That happened to me once!

Camtasia 3 was available free. I think it was at the start of the year. I did some searching around and picked up a copy a few months back.
There is an individual serial code with each copy so sending you mine wouldn’t be any good.
I have upgraded to camtasia 6 and the good thing is that if you get hold of the free copy, you get a 50% discount.

Just to re-iterate and clarify – some PARTICULAR people are littering the high traffic sites like Garry’s, Dean’s and mine with direct links to their PPP (Profit Pulling Platform). It is the SAME people ALL the time.
Think about this folks. Would YOU like YOUR site and all your rich content that you have slavishly put there for the benefit of all used by “certain” people to pull people away from your site to THEIR own PPP? It is unethical.
I’m gonna start to bite people who CONTINUE to do this -especially after they have been warned not to. It is BLACK HAT GUERILLA MARKETING of the worst kind – leeching off your friends.
Gary and Dean and I have been in contact privately about this issue and WE KNOW WHO YOU ARE!
Please stop it.

Asking for the ‘website’ is a feature of commenting through wordpress and not something I have control over. I understand exactly what you say though – that some newbies may inadvertently put their PPPs in and that is understandable and hence why I have made allowances for this as I mentioned. I just edited them when I spot them.
However, the sort of thing I, and Gary from ‘Gary-land’ as re-iterated above, is blatant underhand leeching off fellow students. One in particular came late to the party, as it were, and is now feeding off all our hard efforts. However, I do hope that they take note of these warnings. Gary say’s he is going to start ‘biting’ people who continue to do this. I have made my position, clear and am going through the posts now to remove or edit them. If they continue to do it after this friendly warning I will block both their IP address and email from this blog. I’m sure it won’t go as far as that but we need to make sure all students are protected and are on a level playing field.

Hi Garry,
Camtasia 3 is no longer available for free. The free software was originally intended for the subscribers of “PC Plus” and someone leaked the download page out onto the internet where it spread like wild fire.
Camtasia subsequently removed the offer. Besides, if you are using Windows Vistas, you must have at least version 5. Your best bet is to download the trial version of Camtasia 6.
It is fully functional for 30 days. Hopefully that will be enough time for you to earn the $300 to purchase the program. That is the reason I am doing the video marathon.

Yesterday I put up a blog post that has a link to the trial version and an overview video on how easy it is to use.
There are a lot of free cloakers out there but I would recommend using a tracker like Adtrackz. It lets you cloak your url’s as well as track clicks and sales.
They are running a special now for $77. It creates url’s like this.

The domain will be where ever you have the script installed (I can help you with that)and the file name is whatever you name the tracking campaign.
If you don’t have the money to spend. You can get a free account at Pro Tracker Plus, which is a scaled down version of Adtrackz. It is very limited but might be able to get you by.
I think you are going to easy on our Black Hatter. He/She knows exactly what they are doing and doing it with the intent to take advantage.
I have been scammed and ripped off on the internet several times and have no sympathy for these people. I say you expose them and then we string em up by the short hairs. (yes, I am an American)
I joke because I lived in Europe for several years and know that our attitudes in general differ on these matters.

Hostgator told me that we can put videos and audios on the server, and it’s included in the package. They cannot be streaming video/audio. Seems as if this would work for the newsletter.

Just checking back in dude. The email has been sent and the “tough love” has been administered. I have been very nice about it and given this person the benefit of the doubt while explaining the seriousness of the serial offending.
I don’t expect any problem. However, my missile defence system is always on standby for rogue states – LOL!
Hope this has FIXED the problem and we can all stay nice and tidy at Blog-Land. If the “three amigos” keep a watch on this for the next few days and report back to each other then we should be able to get on top of this and no names ever need to be mentioned. That would be GREAT!

I don’t blame you one bit for taking a bit of time off to spent with the family. I have an online and an offline business as well as a young family and I’m finding I’m meeting myself coming the other way at the moment so I know you have to have a break to de-clutter your mind.

I too may have been an offender but have visited only 2 sites – I’m not certain if I have or haven’t but I have a widget installed in WP (2.7)that automatically pings other blogs that I link or make comments to. Please let me know if this has happened and I’ll immediately fix it or disable the widget.
Also in regards to .avi files – if you have an i-Mac you may be able to work around this in their i-Movie program. I’ve tried with mine – and managed to edit, but it’s resulting quality isn’t great

Must be doing something wrong – my traffic is the pits. Oh well, at least the kids enjoyed their winter sleigh-ride.

I just read the posts about people posting their squeeze pages on other peoples sites. I noticed this myself when finding names on Gary’s blogroll. One name in particular kept showing up on other blogs as well.
I emailed that person and advised them about it thinking that they had uploaded their files to the wrong place. Then I found their actual blog on someone else’s site and noticed that it was on the domain http://www.domainname.com/blog I the realized that people were adding the main .com domain and leaving off the /blog. This domain URL structure is different from the way most people are setting up and it’s not the way that Alex is teaching.
I emailed the person and advised them about this. They told me that they knew how it was set up and they were happy with it, and some other people had the same set up. Fair enough, I found some others with the same set up, but these sites had a relevant page on the main domain, not a squeeze/sales page.
I assumed that this was an error rather than deliberate at the time but I understand Gary’s frustration.
I would say that it pays to check the URL carefully when adding names to your bloggroll. I always visit the site first and copy the URL for the home page to make sure it is correct. It takes time, and my list is building slowly, but I’ll get there and it will be with the right URL’s. I always add people who visit my blog and leave a comment.

You are exactly right. I removed some students entries from my blog the other day because of this reason and others should check there’s and do the same. The blogs are not the place for this.
The other day we had a bit of an issue with this across the sites and thankfully, it seemed to be resolved largely by the efforts of the other Gary (from Gary-land!). On that occasion it seemed it was a genuine mistake plus mixed with some newbies inadvertently doing this. However, what you are saying, is that you have approached an individual who is deliberately doing it and thinks it is acceptable when it is not. My comment#5 above states clearly my view on the matter and how underhand others find it.
To reiterate, to newbies out there – your own PPPs links should not be placed on other peoples blogs in anyway. Period.
I’m not sure how we handle the person to speak of Ken other than what you say – don’t include them in your own blogrolls and prevent any unacceptable posts.
