Hey Garry and Gary, and all who may read this,

First of all congratulations to Gary if he did win although I am quite confused about this issue of who won and who didn't. I guess what Alex should have done is told everyone to install a page rank tool of some sort that had a feed to him which he could keep track of.

But then again, I think the point of this competition exercise and all of the other previous competitions as well, is that it was to make us take action and be more productive.

Plus it's part of a learning excercise, why? Because with each of these competition, we had to either learn or enchance our knowledge
and skills in these new areas i.e. building traffic, making videos, improving seo, and google ranking etc..

Now, let me ask you this? If it weren't for these competitions, would you have been motivated? Would you have improved yourself and increased value in yourself i.e. think of all the new skills and knowledge that you have learnt or gained from participating in these competitions.

So, ok for some, they would disagree and for those disagree let me ask you another question:

Did you participate? If you didn't participate then you cannot comment much further, because no action = no progress = low chance of winning.

For those who did participate, then I'm sorry that you didn't win the competition but then hey, remember this- you are still all winners.

Why?

Just step back and reflect what you have gone through, and although the monetary reward would have been great, but the skills and knowledge
you've learnt and gain in order to participate and increase your chance of winning the competition- that's priceless.

Once you have learnt something, you won't forget it, and providing you still use it, continuously upgrade yourself and teach others by writing your own eBook, set up your own coaching classes about it etc... - that
far exceeds the monetary value that is offered.

Just imagine the potential and also, to reiterate my point - which one would you rather prefer?

A $1000 dollars, or a set of skills you have learnt, which you can later teach and help others, as well as putting a happy smile on their face who will continue to follow you and pay you for your future products/courses?

I shall let you ponder on that...

Apologies about the long post Garry and for completely digressing off the subject

All the best
Nigel

PS: I'm staying neutral on this debate and I only speak from my mind of what I think and I hope I haven't offended anyone, if so, Sorry and apologies in advance.

Hi Garry,

I see the debate of who deserved the #google No.1 ranking. I am still clueless with the consistency of Google ranking. I just did a google search and see Gazza on page 3. The number one spot still belongs to guees who - Alex Jeffreys Marketingwithyou.com.

Anyway, I want to congratulate Gazza for winning the competition. He deserved it. A round of applaause for him.

Thanks to Garry for putting up this quickee video for us.

Talk soon.

Hello Garry and everyone else,

I do hope that it is my new friend Gazz man that has won. However, You're all winners as far as I'm concerned because you're all being seen when someone searches "Alex Jeffreys".

Where were you last month? Where will you be next month? Are you better today than yesterday?

That $1,000.00 spiff was suppose to get you moving. It was to make you take action.

For all of you that show up on page one... jump for joy that you have traffic. If you don't make $1,000.00 from your efforts of SEO, you might want to re-examine your content and products.

Perhaps later on when your an affiliate to Alex promoting the next course, you'll be ringing the register. But why wait... You have learned your lesson well.

Congratulations to all of you,

Renee Olson

@Michael,

Yeas, I'm sure it would make a great piece of a newsletter.

Are you reading Linda – do you fancy writing a brief article for the group newsletter? It goes out to a readership far beyond the F500 too with the viral re-branding option that advanced internet marketers can use to send it out to their own lists.

@Ali,

Really cool video that Ali. Well done. You should be very proud if that is your fisrt one.

Congrats again Gary for Gold Medal.

Maybe it is good if the search engine results would fluctuate more??

I also think the SERs will be more personilized. We are all different. With the same search phrase we look for maybe same info, but like to have it presented different etc.

I submitted my Alex video today, too late for competition, but good to know how to deal with videos. Feel free and comment if it is something to use. Im not sure if it is good or bad.

I'm also open for your flu killing tips. Just righ now I'm coughing like crazy.

Good job Garry on making it clear who won. I think Gary Simpson should have his SEO partner write some good articles about how he was able to get his results or what exactly we should be doing to better position ourselves in Google.

Sounds like another great piece for your newsletter if you ask me. I bet the Alex Jeffreys community would appreciate it. I know I would as I am SEO illiterate.

Again congrats Gary on a job well done and
Garry, thanks for being a leader.

Hi Steve,

I think your post sums up the situation very well and I am sure if Alex runs a similar competition in future he will be very precise what the rules will be.

And I know what you mean about Google "burp" - I saw this with my own site where 1 minute it was number #12 and then the next it had jumped to #6 for a few hours and then back to #12 !!

All very strange Google. I think I was just fortunate to spot it and I happened to be making a video for something else at the time, so just paused what I was doing and took the video 'proof'.

Interestingly enough, Gary's site is not #1 anymore so like you say it is down to 'Judge Alex' I think to decide what happens.

I think many in the F500 group would be very happy for Gazza to be named the winner after the massive contribution he has made to many and I think the comments above reflect that sentiment, but in the end we await the 'official' winner to be named by Alex.

Now, I've got to get back to sorting my site problem out as it doesn't load for people viewing it with IE7. (See the most recent post I have put up). If anybody has any ideas at all please let me know as I am really struggling here :-(

Hi Garry,

Do you remember the song that includes the lines "you say tomato (too mate to) and I say tomato (too mart toe)" ?

Well it feels a bit like that. Alex wasn't clear which version of Google the winner was supposed to get the top ranking in. I have noticed the Google burp when a site shoots to the top for a few minutes and in some cases hours and then sinks back down again. My own site has done this in Google.co.uk and some students spotted this during January and congratulated me on getting the top spot. However none were as resourceful as you and videoed it as you have done for your mate Gary S. I also dismissed this because (and this is where the confusion comes in for everyone) I viewed Google.com as being the version to get No. 1 for in the competition (especially as Alec's students are international and not UK based only) and not Google.co.uk as you have shown in your video.

Well the winner of the race if it is over is down to Alex. So I guess we will have to await the wisdom by the Judge Alex (where is Judge Judy when you need her!).
Cheers

I see there is some disagreement as to the google winner :). . I'm still quite clueless about all this google no.1 ranking etc. . :). .

Hi Garry

At the risk of repeating what some others have said, I too don't see the same results shown in your video. Strange isn't it? I in the Uk like you so should see the same results. When I search Gary is no 13 in the list????

Google, eh? lol

I have put up a video on my blog about how to set up aweber to action the triple threat affiliate tactic. It's actually quite simple which makes a nice change!

all the best

I'd like to say Gary, you are very humble giving the credit to Linda. Great to see and obviously well deserved. Well done mate.

Hi Gary,

It doesn't appear to be a hiccup by Google as I still see the same results and it has been more than 3 hours now.

Like I said previously, I will check again tomorrow. I may be top by then, LOL !!!

Good Going Gary! I reckon it's well deserved. Nice of you to so generously hand the credit over...speaks very well of you. Nearly as well as you speak of Linda!

Congrats!

Hi Guys,

@Clayton,

We have known for a long time that Google rankings in different countries can differ widely, so that doesn't really surprise me, though again it does create a dilemma for our leader Alex Jeffreys. But was is rather surprising is JJ's findings who are based in the UK

@JJ,

Hmmmm, gets even more mysterious. Re your quote:-

We are also in the UK and I also checked using firefox and google.com and the same results as checking using google.co.uk with the .com indicator…

I've just done exactly what you have done and each method backs up my video results with no differences. So it's a real mystery. I believe you 100% in the findings you report as I am sure you do the same for me. What appears to be a simple competition to judge is now going to prove rather difficult (understatement !!)

I think we can all agree with your last statement, we have all gained from this exercise in the SEO knowledge we have gained which was the main intention of why Alex set the competition.

No disrespect to anyone else, I do hope GAZZA has won it and my video helps to prove that, as out of all the F500 he has given so much that it would be a deserving reward, albeit he is going to give it to Linda [Q] for the work she did overhauling his site.

I will check the Google rankings tomorrow as it is quite amazing the discrepancies we are seeing here in certain cases.

Hi guys,

Maybe Garry just happened to glance at that page when Google did a hiccup. I have NO IDEA what happened but I WILL say that I pounded some SEO into my site about a week to ten days ago. And it's a BIG site and it can take a fair hammering.

Maybe Google is having a Google-burp or a Google botty-boom or something but the video snappy that Garry took doesn't lie - even though Parkesy can be a tricky-dicky with the camera. Ya didn't "doctor" it did ya Garry? LOL!

Whatever happens, I abide by the umpire's decision and IF Alex Jeffreys (another keyword for ya there Garry) says I am the winner then I am. If he say's I'm not then I just punch him out and... I mean (ahem - clear my throat).

No, seriously (only kidding Alex - really! Just a joke mate), IF he says bugger off Gazza then that's OK too.

I am all for fair competition and the winner will win it fair and square and get no grief from me. It's Alex Jeffreys ('nuther one for you Garry) who will decide.

Thanks for all the comments. It's damn-well 4.09am over here in Perth and I am gonna be rooted tomorrow. I hope I have made at least SOME sense here - not up to my usual standard of sensibility, I know.

Anyway - night to all.

Nighty night Garry.

Nighty-night ALEX JEFFREYS - That'll be a goodie for you Parkesy! LOL! ;-)

Garry.

We are also in the UK and I also checked using firefox and google.com and the same results as checking using google.co.uk with the .com indicator...

Alex is number 1
we are number 2
Steve Harold number 3
Gazzman is on 2nd page

What ever Alex decides, congrats to everyone who has taken part as you have gained valuable seo knowledge which can only help build your online business - the reason why Alex wanted everyone to participate and why you joined the coaching.

Cheers

Hi Mark,

All I can say Mark is Gary is #1 looking from where I am based. We know that across the world the rankings don't show the same results across the continents.

I think you're based in the UK though Mark aren't you? If that is true than it throws up a bit of a Dilemma for Alex as how does he decide to award the prize as we all appear to be seeing different results even in the same country now?

I guess that's for Alex to decide ... But my video clearly shows Gary at no #1.
